Rescue Ferrets at Sea (Ferret Chronicles, No. 1)

So let's say some alien (readers) arrive and absorbed ... italics here: ... the entire storytelling output of all humanity. I'm talking every story, book, movie, poem of our few thousand years.Apotheosis: in All Of That: you could argue that: only one thing stands out. And that's this obscure set of fable-like (there's no term - since there is nothing like them) books by R Bach.So, Richard Bach. Author of (literally) a few of the best selling books of all time. JL Seagull, Bridge Across Forever etc are basics of human culture and literally among the best-sellers of all time.So then, he writes these very obscure, wildly bizarre, four ferret tales.The best way to characterize them is as alternative-universe fables. Why alternate-universe? OK, so the fact that the ferret universe contains colored sheep or talking ferrets ... that's no big deal. What makes the universe of the books so absurdly different?The answer is the moral system, the way of thinking if you will, of that universe.You could make a soundbite and say something like "it's storytelling, with No Bad Guys ... it's a universe where, surprisingly, Every One Is Good..." How the heck can you tell stories with no bad guys, no conflict .... more broadly, "what the heck would you do" in a world with no evil, no bad, no conflict, what would you do in such a ... future or alternate?Well, Richard Bach knows and he tells us. To read these sort of ultra-hyper-post-modern tales is to rather jump beyond all of current consciousness, of culture based in conflict and duress and overcoming. These books take the most profoundly fundamental archetypes and say, "That's nice - now let's get on with really being us!"Anyway, this is the first of the ferret chronicles. I am retired Navy with a few years at sea. I love the ocean and the mystery of it all. This is a rescue ship story well written to blend into reality like a glove. I may send copies of the Ferret Chronicles to Disney. These would make GREAT kids movies and with the CGI that is available today? ... they would make wonderful vignette type movies for ALL ages. If you liked Jonathan Livingston Seagull, these will mirror the magic of that book and give you insight to how Bach makes his ferret characters come to life in seconds. I highly recommend these adventures. You will not be disappointed and your kids will love them Great bedtime stories for kids.

Just read this book... Read it to children everywhere. Don't be fooled into thinking that adult you will not very possibly benefit more than the children . it's hard typing on this little keyboard so I will just end with Thank You Richard!

His books about the adventures of ferrets that happen behind the scenes are charming. As a middle age woman I still am brought back to childhood and peace when I read his stories. I sleep better, I dream more, I worry less! I imagine these ferrets with their scarves and their daring- dos! Almost too cute!

My husband and I listened Air Ferrets on a long trip recently. We enjoyed it enough for me to order Rescue Ferrets at Sea and Writer Ferrets. They all seem to drag a little in the middle but they come to great conclusions and we enjoyed them very much. Had sent them on to my kids.

I bought the book for My 7year old grand daughter . She had visited during the summer and enjoyed our pet ferrets, so i figured why not? She had the book out of the box and was curled up reading it in no time. Her mother says she gives regular updates on what she's read. It looks like I'll be buying the others when she finishes the first book.

I love all of Richard Bach's books. These are fun and he hides very depth in places you would not expect.
