Works Great!
I have a Lab/Shepard mix and he has about 5 layers of short hair. I bought the Furminator and it did a great job at getting his undercoat but didn't get his top coat at all. This brush does the job at getting the top coat which is the one that winds it's way into your coat, rug, socks, etc. I was amazed at how much hair it took off and my dog didn't mind it at all. I think he felt like he was getting a massage.Only down side to this product is it is hard to get the hair out of the brush itself. You end up having to use another object to rub the hairs out between the bristles or you sit there for another 10 min trying to get them out with your fingers.Over all does the job well, just wish it was easier to clean.

Doberman curry only fair benefit
It is fine as a massage which. the dobes enjoy but it really does not remove much hair. I find that my old stand by grooming stone is best for Dobermans. Perhaps it would benefit those dogs that have an undercoat? though it would only penetrate 1/2- 3/4 inches.

This brush is flexible and comfortable to manipulate
This brush is flexible and comfortable to manipulate, and my short-haired Chihuahua enjoys being brushed with it (after initially recoiling from the plastic smell). A star is omitted because of the downside of cleaning it, which took several minutes, but I remind myself that it is love that motivates me to care for my dog, and this task is part of caring for him. He does not shed much, but after cleaning with water I had to use a Q-tip or one of those tiny brushes for cleaning between your teeth (they're good for cleaning a keyboard too). His dark hairs were clearly visible against the green of the plastic and I could push the hairs down the rows between the rubber tips. It's worth doing because a brush with old hair in it can create a breeding ground for bacteria.

GET THIS BRUSH!
This curry brush rocks the house, rocks rocks the house!!!Let me tell you, I read A LOT of reviews on brushes before settling on this one and I am SO glad I did! (Thanks to all who reviewed this brush!)We have a bullmastiff and she loooooooves this brush! For us, the brush is easy to use - just slip it over your hand and brush away! Each bristle has four smaller bristles at the end that really grab the hair and massage your pet! I've used furminators before and while they do really get out the loose hairs, there was always fur flying and fur left over at the end of the brush stroke - not so with this brush! It grabs the fur and locks it away, so you can brush your pet inside without worrying about fur getting everywhere. I also use it when bathing our dog to get a deep down clean (and she loves it too)! One thing I did see others mention is the difficulty of removing the fur after brushing - this is true. We just use an old dog comb to "comb out" the hair from the brush, which is pretty easy (the more hair, the easier it is to remove) - but if I hadn't found that trick I'm sure it would be frustrating trying to get the fur out. We've had this brush for about two months and I've noticed our dog's coat is shinier and when bathing her there is *very* little fur afterwards in the tub - (BIG difference from before) - which makes clean-up a breeze!I can't speak to how it works with long-haired pets, but for our dog, it was worth EVERY penny and more! (Wish I could include a picture of our dog getting brushed - you wouldn't even need to read my review! Haha!)

great dog brush! Easy to get hair out of!
I had been brushing my dog, who is a 17 pound jack russell mix with rough/wiry coat, with the Martha Stewart brush. I was happy with that brush, but because of it's design (the rubber bristles are attached to a wooden block about an inch thick) it limited where I could brush on my dog - the wood would hit her when I was trying to brush close to limbs and such. Also, it was almost impossible to get the accumulated fur out of the brush. But I still thought it was brushing/doing it's job. Then I thought, well, I should try a different brush. So I got this one; and boy, curry brushes are NOT all made equal! Even the rubber on this brush as better gripping power! The little "tines" that stick out split at the ends, this might also have to do with how well they really grip onto the fur. The fact that the brush is flexible is really awesome too, it means that i can curve the brush around her when I brush her, and it makes it pretty easy to take the hair off - simply flex the brush around back and pull the hair out!I had been brushing my dog for 10-20 minutes every day with the Martha Stewart brush for the past 2 weeks (it's shedding time); when I got this curry brush yesterday, I used it on her immediately and tons of hair came off in just a few minutes. That shows that the Martha Steward brush wasn't doing much at all, and that this one works very well!

Too much statics
My cats love it but it's made of plastic, loose hairs stay on cat's coat, my face and stick to the floor. Didn't use it after few times, kind of annoying.

It's a nice breezy day
Just got this today and used it on the way back from the mailbox! It's a nice breezy day, so the hair blew away instead of all over me! My dog isn't quite sure if she likes it or not, but she stood quietly and let me brush her. I was surprised at how much hair it actually got. My dog is short haired and sheds a LOT. I plan to use this frequently.

Great on dogs and people too
I read the reviews and thought it was worth a shot. My dog loves getting brushed by this thing so much that he comes running when I pull it out. He is a spaniel/pointer mix and we keep his hair shaved pretty short. He gets excited and rolls over on his back for a belly rub. I wondered what all the fuss was about so I ran it through my hair a few times and understood how the small bristles provide a massaging action. This brush is also great during bath time as it really helps spread out the shampoo and get all the hair covered quickly with less product. The rubber construction is soft but grippy, so it doesn't hurt the skin, but really helps pull out the loose hair. Great product for a great price. As a side note, if you have a dry scalp, this brush actually works pretty good to get out dandruff as you shampoo your own hair and it's a nice little head massage too.
