Problem solved. No more tangled cord sitting in a pile in the garage. I left about a foot extended on the outside. It wasn't very expensive but solved the problem. Now I don't have to unravel the enter extension cord when I only need a few feet.

The price is right. I’ve had many reels. This one doesn’t spin easily- it catches on something. And it was clear that 100 foot cords don’t really fit if they’re beyond lightweight. It’s true. My medium weight cord does not fit.

This item is fantastic for rolling up cords to store or even rolling up electric hot fence! The ease of use is straight forward and cannot be beat. Found the first one at Tractor supply but they didn’t have any more so found and bought 5 more here! The quality is great and these aren’t expensive at all. I am sure we will order more because this is way better than rolling them around your arm or hand to collect long cords!

Large enough to hold a 50 ft. 12/3 outdoor extension cord. But out of the box, would catch and be hard to turn past a certain point. Hopefully WD40 will fix that problem for good. Then the first time I used it, the knob came off. It wasn't broken, but the screw had fallen out. The screw goes into a lock nut but had not been tightened securely. Very difficult to replace unless you have a right angle screw driver, which I did have. Even then, though, what should have been working out of the box took me fifteen minutes or more to fix because of time spent looking for the right screw driver and then trying to find the nut after I had dropped it twice.

I bought two of these to store my 100ft extension cords. Prior I was lazy and didn't wind them the best way, so these help me out a lot. They keep them wound neatly and they don't unravel and get tangled up like before for me. Overall these are made of plastic, but I have a couple of older ones which still work fine and don't break unless you really make an effort to break them. Overall good addition to my extension cords to keep them wound nicely.

This product is a good electric cord winder / spool for the price. The plastic spool is reasonably stout. Four stars is because the flash (extra plastic that slips out of the die during molding) was not neatly cleaned up. The flash had to be trimmed before unit ran flawlessly. Took about 5 min. I will buy again.
