This is a very plastic, cheap feeling adapter, but it does exactly what it says and it does it well. If you're looking for something to use once or twice a month this is exactly what you need. I'm not sure how it'd stand up to constant unplugging/replugging like in a datacenter, but probably not too well.

So granted I bought this for a niche purpose. I am very into retro gaming, and I use this adapter in conjunction with the XRGB-mini, and am able to get a beautiful signal out of my Dreamcast. The Dreamcast outputs a VGA 480p Signal, however the XRGB-mini does not have a VGA in, so this adapter solved my issue. It allowed me to connect my Dreamcast to the XRGB-mini. Also I feel this is an important note. I used to use the Atlona HDView VGA to HDMI Upscaler. However although that would work with with the XRGB-mini, it would always output blue-screen if no VGA signal was detected. This would mess with my HDMI Switcher, as my HDMI Switch Box has auto-detection, and it would automatically always switch to Atlona-Upscaler because of the blue blanking signal, that is has with no Input. This VGA Converter, does NOT output a Blanking Signal: If the device it is connected to is turned off, so is the VGA Converter. Which means it should not mess with any Auto-Detection on HDMI Switchers, or KVMs.

This device is very easy to set up and converts without any signal loss or distortion. However, I plugged it into a pc with a few other usb devices plugged in and it turned off my wired keyboard. I had figured it might need a bit more power than sixth place at the back of a pc, so I started cutting things off. Even after narrowing it down so that only a mouse, keyboard and the adapter were on the pc's usb ports, plugging one in would deactivate another of the two. After plugging it into the power strip with a phone adapter I had lying around it works a charm. Don't expect it to run off your device's usb power unless it's got a beefy supply though.

Last week I decided to go dual head. My PC is quite far from my desk and usually needs 20' HDMI and USB cables. I got the cables earlier this week and strung them through my office raceway. My PC is in a sound proof cabinet and dual heads with 1@ digital and 1@ analog (VGA). The adapter is as the web said 2-5/8" long. but the cable needs 3 more inches (plug + a bend to get into the raceway) and there is only 4" between the PC and the cabnet's back wall if I close the sound suppression doors. It's compact size would make it ideal for on-the-road or laptop-on-the-desk use.

Works as advertised. Issues with television finding the computer signal but that was a television issue, not the adapter's issue. Price was right. Works well.

Economical price, but VERY disappointed that the adapter stopped working after about 2 days. My laptop doesn't even detect that the port is in use. I had to purchase a different adapter.

My old PC tower blew up and I had to get a new one. Surprisingly my old graphics card, the one with the HDMI slots, did not fit in the new tower's case (we'll solve that with an extension cable.) So in the meantime I needed a solution to get HD output from the onboard motherboard graphics to my monitor. This device has done the job and has worked flawlessly for the past three months. I now feel it's time to tell the world!

Worked perfect. I used,an old computer moniter to connect roku express. Moniter only has vga & dvi, so bought adapter and now have roku streaming on perfect little "t.v." for my kitchen.
