So far a good workhorse
After using the Tanness dehumidifier for a week, I’ve found it to be an efficient and practical addition to my home. It’s a 12-liter compressor-based model that performs well in managing humidity across my 140m² house. Positioned in the largest room at the farthest corner from where we sleep, it effectively regulates humidity throughout most of the home while remaining quiet enough not to disturb us at night. The sleep mode is particularly effective, reducing power consumption significantly while still maintaining adequate extraction, with over 2 liters of water collected daily even at a 50% humidity setting. For a compressor model, it’s as quiet as can be expected, with most of the noise coming from the compressor itself. The water tank on the Tanness is thoughtfully designed. It’s easy to remove, carry, and replace without any risk of leaks, though it does take a little getting used to. There’s also an option for continuous drainage, which I haven’t tried yet. While researching the model online, I discovered a nearly identical unit called the Wessex, which appears to be the same dehumidifier with minor cosmetic differences. The Wessex manual, which I found online, is identical to the printed one that came with my Tanness, reinforcing the impression that it’s a simple rebranding. In terms of performance, the Tanness compares similarly to premium models like Meaco. It’s rated as a 12-liter dehumidifier, which means it can theoretically collect up to 12 liters per day under ideal conditions, such as 30°C and 80% relative humidity. In real-world conditions, particularly during winter when colder air holds less moisture, it collects around 2–3 liters daily, which is entirely normal. Compared to my almost two-year-old 25-liter Electriq model, the Tanness is more efficient and seems to regulate humidity more effectively. The Electriq appears to be declining in performance after two hard years, possibly due to wear or an inaccurate hygrometer making it think it has frosted up or the compressor is losing gas. Screenshots I’ve taken demonstrate the Tanness’s ability to maintain consistent humidity levels and highlight its low power consumption. You can see toward the end of the humidity curve the humidity started to climb after the tank for full and the device shut down. The real world power was apps on average less than 120 watts making it cost effective to run.The Tanness fits seamlessly into my three-dehumidifier setup. Alongside it, I use a Meaco Junior desiccant dehumidifier and the older Electriq model. The Tanness handles most of the everyday workload, set to maintain 50% relative humidity, while the Meaco Junior, set to 60%, steps in for high-demand situations like cooking, or quickly drying laundry if set to a laundry mode. The Junior is incredibly effective but less energy-efficient, so I use it as a “peak shaving” device for these situations or when the temperatures drop below 15°C. For showers, I often rely on the Electriq in manual laundry mode while the others remain in auto mode. This setup ensures consistent humidity control while keeping energy use to a minimum. While I’m pleased with the Tanness so far, its durability remains to be seen. Premium brands like Meaco are known for their longevity, with many lasting over a decade, while my Electriq is already showing signs of decline before 2 years. I’m optimistic that the Tanness will hold up well, but only time will tell. The only areas for improvement I’ve noticed are the water tank size, which could be slightly larger, and the manual, which is somewhat vague. However, the unit is simple enough to operate with some trial and error, so these are minor issues.Overall, the Tanness is an excellent dehumidifier that strikes a good balance between noise, energy efficiency, and extraction rate. It’s already proving to be an essential part of my home setup, and I expect it to pay for itself in energy savings compared to relying on larger, less efficient units. If its long-term performance matches its initial efficiency, it will be a worthwhile investment.

Awesome dehumidifier
I live in a small flat and during winter months I suffer with wet windows and drying laundry is a complete nightmare but no more with this dehumidifier! Amazing bit of kit that is small enough to fit in my flat without being bulky or out of place but man enough to do the job. It’s easy to manoeuvre from room to room if needed and my washing is dry in no time using the drying function. Easy to use and not too noisy even on the sleep function but display lights are a bit bright still for me when using the sleep function but then I like it pitch black so not a negative! Highly recommend this bit of kit especially if you live in a flat

Works well but there is a humidity sensor issue
I bought this product to maintain a reasonably low humidity level and thus avoid damp in a holiday home which is left unoccupied for lengthy periods. I have so far only had the opportunity to check it out for a few days. It looks good and appears to be well made. The user can set the desired humidity level in 5% increments. The unit will then operate until the level reaches 3% below the set level, when it will switch off and it will restart when the level rises to 3% above the set level. I thought this was a fairly large range but, having used it, I think I understand why. The unit runs for as long as necessary to reach the -3% level and then switches off. I have used an external humidity sensor to check that the level reached is approximately correct (within about 2%). Once the unit switches off, its humidity sensor very quickly rises until it reaches the +3% level. This happens in about 5 minutes, during which time the external sensor barely changes. I suspect that the humidity level within the unit increases substantially when the unit switches off. The net result is that the unit maintains the desired external humidity level albeit by switching itself on and off every 5 minutes or so. I don’t know whether this is more or less efficient than running and pausing for longer which would be the case if the humidity level was measured externally. On a separate matter, I had hoped that the timer function would allow me to set a period of time during each day when the unit would operate. Unfortunately, the timer is merely a delay timer to allow a one-off delayed start time. To achieve my objective, I have to use an external timer.Overall, despite these issues, I like the product and feel that it is fair value for money.

Excellent little dehumidifier
Great little dehumidifier. Does the job perfectly. From removing excess moisture from the air to drying clothes it's great.Lots of different settings and you can set the humidity level to suit.Very portable as its on wheels but is light to carry.Quiet setting for nighttime and auto shut off when full.2l capacity tank means you don't have to keep emptying all the time, but there is a drain tube should you need it.All in all, great value for money.

Fantastic!!!
My only regret is that I did not buy this sooner- truth!! The money that I have wasted on tiny silly plastic make do dehumidifiers would shock you. This great little machine collects so much moisture it's incredible! It's a good size, small and compact, easy to move around on its wheels and the design is perfect......NO regrets other than I should ( to reiterate) have bought it much sooner. Please see for yourself as you won't regret it.Thanks for reading my review.
