I installed these to keep my cats out of the kitchen cabinets. I used a screwdriver and didn't have a problem until having to put in the screw for the flat door magnet part. I had ordered 2 of these packs and on BOTH, the screw heads ripped off. I'm unsure if I just have cabinets of steel or something (they seem like ordinary wood cabinets) but I ended up using clear shipping tape to install the flat magnet parts. Other than that, it works great and keeps my cats out! :)

I am using this (and purchasing another) to hold a set of large French doors shut. The doors don't stay shut of their own accord; they actually tend to push out with a good amount of force. This one magnet is doing a fine job holding it shut—it's not quite strong enough, though. I'm getting a second one for the other door and that will definitely take care of the issue.I do not like the tacky wood grain look. A little paint should be a simple fix, though.

It's a nice Heavy Duty Magnetic Catch. Nothing special about it. I later purchased the Liberty C08132L-BR-U1 Magnetic Catch with Strike, 10-Pack for $5.98. This Amerock BP9798-AW for one was for $1.98. The magnetic strength, size & quality are close enough to say they are the same. Very happy with purchase. Just the price difference for the same quality the 10pk is very much a better deal.

Edit, several years later: I decided to try these out again since we've moved to a new place and still need to ferret proof the kitchen cabinets. Unfortunately, the quality seems to have taken a nosedive. I had 3 sets left over from the last time, and I had no problems with them whatsoever, at least until we went to remove them. I couldn't remove half of them because they ended up stripping. Fast forward 2 weeks and I've just received the new ones to install in the new kitchen and half of them ended up stripping on installation as well. Not to mention the 3 screws that outright snapped like twigs during installation. With 3 metal bits now stuck in my cabinets, I was forced to improvise with adhesive strips, something that I was really hoping to avoid. You can see the attached pictures for an idea of how it went down, minus the swearing.Do NOT buy these magnet latches. Or, if you do, supply your own screws because the ones they give you suck.Used these to ferret-proof my apartment kitchen cabinets. They work like a charm. The screws provided were, I think, too long for my cabinets, but I got some from Home Depot for cheap and drilled away.

This is designed with an offset on the mounts and 4 screw holes that make the placement quite adjustable. If you are replacing a broken latch, that could be a handy feature to allow you to use the same original screw holes. It comes with mounting screws. The plate has little bumps on it so that when you mount it with only one screw it keeps the plate from turning once it is tightened down. The magnet/plates part seems to be of high quality. It does have a wood grain look to it, something I did not notice when I purchased, but did not matter to me as these were used on garage cabinets. The price is good, I bought three, and they all worked well.

The magnetic catch was to replace one on my dresser that was lost and/or fell off when movers were moving my furniture to a house I was moving to. The magnet worked great and was very easy to install. My only complaint was it took two weeks to receive.

It's hard to pick a magnetic lock from pictures alone. This one will not disappoint! I was a little apprehensive at the faux wood grain finish but it was going inside a cabinet, not meant to be seen. I was more concerned with the build quality and magnet strength. I was pleasantly surprised! If you look at the company who makes this product you'll find they make high end locks.If you're at all hesitant don't be. This lock is powerful, easy to instal and made to last.

I purchased this latch to replace a faulty latch securing a hardwood door on a large piece of my mother's heirloom furniture. This quality magnet was strong enough to securely hold the cabinet door in place with a satisfying "click". Other magnetic latches we tried had been too weak and cheaply made to do the job properly. I rate this magnetic latch 5 Stars for quality all-metal construction and a nice strong magnet. Great Product at a bargain price!
