Great feeling and tough socks.
This isn'y my first pair of Darn Tough Cooolmax socks. While only my second pair I got them because I enjoyed them so much. They feel nice on the foot and are supportive without being too restrictive. They help fill up volume in things like a hiking boot if you need that (I use them in barefoot Jim Green Boots) but not by a lot. If they had any downside, it is that I wish they were a tad bit thicker (higher weight) since they are intended to be a hiking sock. If they made a heavyweight version, I'd buy it tomorrow. Also, I wish they came in cool colors like the wool versions, but they don't.So far there is no pilling, and they haven't seemed to have stretched out much like cheap socks do. When it comes to that stretch, or lack thereof, that is something to keep in mind when sizing. If you are on the edge of size, go up. These socks run narrow. As someone with a 4E (double extra wide) foot I needed to go up since I was at the edge of sizing. That is their only quirk.Anyway, these are great for those who are allergic to wool! I hope they expand on the line.

Super quality socks!
Recently I replaced my 7 year old hiking boots, after dozens of hikes all over the world, with a pair of the same boots, because they were so freaking good (Lowa). However over the last couple of years I had lost all my hiking socks and ended up using cheap "nice" socks instead, thin, but also synthetic. It started giving me problems when it was really hot, even with the older boots. Now with new boots, could it be the socks?I was originally looking for hiking socks that had Merino wool in them to wick away moisture and I am pretty sure I ended up clicking on these socks from somewhere where it said it was Merino wool. Read on the reviews that other people had experienced the same. However it isn't, instead it is:37% Nylon, 34% Coolmax Polyester, 26% Acrylic, 2% Lycra Spandex, 1% Other fiberWhen I read that, I was a bit sceptical, but reading the label, "Darn Tough, made in the USA, Vermont, unconditionally guaranteed for life" and watching a video of these guys, well, I will give that a shot. The socks were tight, maybe a bit too tight I thought, but... they felt good, nice kinda-thick support where needed, but not too much.So I hiked the local mountain in California, San Jacinto, in 85 degrees 11AM. It was hot, my feet were hot, I could feel a few hot spots that were touching my new boots, but wanted to give it a real test. Many hours later, I remove the boots, ahhh, and I remove the socks. Warm feet for sure, but NO BLISTERS!Ordered 3 pairs more, but this time I got the one with Merino wool. A bit expensive, but after having tried them last weekend hiking up and down Grand Canyon with a big backpack in 100 degrees, I can only tell you, they freaking work really well! Not a single blister or even close. Get some yourself before your neighbor

Best Socks For Hot or Cold Seasons
I have many pairs of Darn Tough socks. These are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. How do they do it? They keep feet dry. They fit well with no hot spots. I can't tell you if the lifetime guarantee is real because I'm still kicking. I will put these socks in my will, and the person who gets them can tell you if the lifetime guarantee is true. "Yeah, he's gone, but these socks are still like new!" Here is a tip: If you are a man and you hate wearing uncomfortable dress socks with your suit, buy a pair of black Darn Tough socks. You can wear them for hours and hours and still be comfortable.

Comfortable and Lightweight, but... Edited to 5 Stars!
So I bought a few pair of these Darn Tough Coolmax Micro Crew Cushion Socks for the hot summer hiking. Today I did a quick 5 miles to test them out. They were extremely comfortable and lightweight; as advertised. I really like that The fit was just right for me and I didn’t have any issues with feeling annoying seams, which can be a real problem on longer hikes. Today wasn’t a particularly warm day, but my feet did still sweat, however when I got home and removed the socks, my feet were fairly dry even though the socks were damp. So I believe the moisture wicking feature seems to work well. Unfortunately, I do have one big issue, for $20+ a pair of socks (and the reason for only a 3 star review), one of them already started showing signs of wear. This concerns me enough to return my unused pair. I will continue to use this pair and see how they hold up. I have a feeling I may have to see how unconditional their unconditional guarantee really is.Update 12/20/2021So I’ve used these socks a bunch and I am very pleased with the comfort and durability. The one spot I was concerned about hasn’t deteriorated at all. I have increased my rating to 5 stars!

Not what I wanted
These are good, quality socks, but they are thick and heavy. The 'Coolmax' may feel cooler than other wools but just know that they are thick. I wouldn't consider wearing them outside of the coldest winter months.

Best Socks I've Owned
Numerous hikers highly recommended this brand to me. I was highly suspicious paying $20+ for one pair of socks, but put in an order for a pair due to the great feedback. Tried them out on a 92° 10 mile hike and fell in love with them. The cushion of the sock helps your boots grip your feet without unnecessary tension and make your feet feel less beat up. The moisture wicking works better than imagined, no soaked sweety wet feet after a few miles in the heat. Surprisingly the socks have LIFETIME WARRANTY as well. Ended up purchasing 4 more pairs for hiking across the Grand Canyon.Overall: Best sock investment I've ever made in my life. Highly recommend them for hiking.

Feel great!
I like a sock that feels good and you forget that you even have them on. Long hikes without blisters and they wash up well. They retain their nice feel.

8+ Years Of Hard Use Review
It has been just over 8 years now that I have been wearing only Darn Tough Socks. I have several pairs and they do not have an easy life. So far I have gotten 20 replacement pairs under warranty and every time Darn Tough has lived up to their promise and it has been zero hassle and no cost. Also, the quality of the socks over the years has not faded, which is paying Darn Tough a big compliment as QC has went downhill (especially since covid) for most manufacturers out there. One thing to note would be that the socks that use Coolmax last longer than the ones that use Merino Wool if you are really, really abusing them. Both are terrific though. In summery, socks are top of the line comfort and durability and if/when they do fail the customer service is beyond great. A company and product worth supporting.
