New Horizon Plant Compost Mix, 80 litres (2 x 40 Litre Bags)

I like this New Horizons Peat Free compost very much and use it regularly. On occasions it's been difficult to get this product delivered from the usual places (garden centres etc.,) and I was pleased to find it on Amazon's website in February for the reasonable price of £15.58 (2x40 litre bags, including delivery). I was not pleased to find the exact product (2×40 litres) on sale today at the ridiculous price of £27.79. The mind boggles...

I love this compost. It's reliability is excellent. Unlike other products its mould and moss free. Organic and peat free is important to me. My only gripe is it's made or owned by Westland who are a huge producer of non-organic, peat based composts. Is this greenwash or the bad people trying to do the right thing. You decide.

Good for most plant use but would not recommend for seed sowing. Great for mulching around newly-planted items and potting on.

Very heavy Parcel arrived three days earlier than expected by Yodel! Very shocked as my notification of time to be delivered arrived after delivery. Great for me! Luckily someone was home to maneuver it as I'm mobility impaired.

I bought this peat free compost thinking it was best for the environment and the garden. However it smells awful. I thought the smell would go away after a while but 3 days later and it is still there. The whole garden smells awful. Thankfully the smell went away after the heavy rain, but there is a horrible white film on the soil now. I've used peat free soil before and never had this problem. I would not buy it again.

Comes out of the bag drier than most composts, so may need extra watering when you plant anything in it.Having said that, that can be an advantage when you're pouring it out into pots and troughs as it doesn't clump up as with other wetter composts.The roses seem to be liking it, judging by the number of blooms - and ultimately if the plants like it they're a better judge of quality than me !

Excellent quality and delivery. Excellent quality compost, only just started using. Look forward to end results.
