Elenco Tyrannosaurus Rex Skeleton

The skeleton itself looks just like the picture, and measures tooth to tail about 15.5 inches. The bones are all snap-together, made of a brown rubbery but stiff plastic, which seems unbreakable for playtime. The actual skeleton may take a little adult supervision as far as applying pressure strong enough to press the parts together. The kit as a whole has so much more to offer for education! The 68 page booklet described has full color, very wonderful information about history, a full spread, photo instruction set (which helped), and comics for the youth. As a skeleton alone, the detail is outstanding. The model has some weight to it, and without the thin lower ribcage is totally ready to take on transformers! Mr. T-Rex Bones can swivel his head, open those jaws, but is somewhat stuck in a running pose.The Instructions are outstandingly clear. Names and all about connecting each part to the next.I learned something based on this model kit, and fully agree about its accuracy. It matches all known digs and reconstructions, and seems current. I'm looking at the bone structure, and my bid is that this very large reptile spent most of its time sitting, rather than the movie version of hunting. The two extended pelvis bones were not for laying eggs, more for support while at rest, tail as a counterbalance. Clearly, the short forearms were not all that useful, compared to the gigantic number of teeth. The hip structure must have had massive muscles, and a tendon groove is noted through the kneejoint where humans have an extra kneecap bone.Lotta leg muscle and very heavy support on the huge legbones, noted twin bones beneath the knee. Dynamic turning ability.Overall, a very good expenditure of a mild 25 bucks. Impressive model.Included as well in the box is a book, two bags of plaster of paris, molds, and a measuring cup.Worth every penny!

Extremely Nice Product! I am an illustrator with a focus in animals, I purchased this to be used for reference without spending $300 on the more refined models. Skeleton models of animals are rare and most are not so accurate as this one is, additionally it is in a very unique and dynamic pose which looks amazing. I did a similar paint job as another reviewer and am really happy with it. I first purchased the larger 3 foot trex available by Elenco, also another great model, but had to get this one as well and do not regret it. It comes together very easily, and the additional molds and fill and informational book were amazing bonuses. The informational book actually includes information on many dinosaurs and despite my collection of more informative dinosaur books i will be keeping it as well. If I knew a kid or adult who was in to dinosaurs I would definately get this as a gift for them.On a side note, I have always kind of disliked the trex due to its popularity, but I still love this model... Perhaps with enough work I can modify it into an allosaur...

Top review says it all but I will add my two cents. I got this during the $15 sale but it is worth the $25 they are asking and then some. The sculpt is phenomenal especially for its size. The overall pose is the best I have seen, and I own the Elenco Large Trex and the Geoworld 3 foot Trex. My kids spent 10 minutes dry brushing some black acrylic paint on it and it looks incredible, I attached a pic. The thick book and gypsum molds are just a bonus to the skeleton, but excellent value additions. I mixed plaster and sand and poured it over the unassembled bones to make a dinosaur dig kit with this great skeleton for $25 total during the sale. It blows away any of the pre-made dig kits and I would recommend it for an added amount of fun. Made a great birthday activity. I ended up buying a second skeleton kit for my other kid.

Nice model set but the pieces would not come together. My son was very disappointed. I do not recommend.

I really like this little model. It isn't as big or as detailed as the larger Elenco T. Rex but it is still really well done. I have both. After reading reviews on this product I purchased some black model paint and sponge brushed it onto the model. This treatment makes the model look much pricier than it would originally. The original color is a pretty flat brown but now it looks awesome and old and like real bones! It makes a nice addition to my end table.

Cool Item

This was really fun to build with my son. I thought it came with fossils, but it actually comes with reusable molds and plaster, which is even more fun! The finished dinosaur looks great on his shelf in his room.

Easy to assemble and comes with nice instructions. My 7 yr old put it together in about 15 minutes. Very cool to sit on the shelf, doesn't work out so well when he tries to play with it as a toy.

The model's great. for a mere $22 you get a great looking model that's easily assembled, and it comes with a educational booklet and some plaster and moulds for making plaster casts.If you're looking at the Amazon.com reviews you'll see someone suggested dry-brushing the model and I would agree whole-heartedly as it just makes the figure look that much more awesome.
